The 2015 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season kicks off this weekend, Thursday through Sunday, February 5th through 8th, with the Circle K NHRA Winternationals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona in California. The event will feature Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro Stock classes as well as numerous Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series categories and the Nitro Harleys.
Khalid alBalooshi (Top Fuel), John Force (Funny Car) and Jason Line (Pro Stock) took home Wallys last year from the season opener at Pomona.
Thursday, February 5th will feature sportsman qualifying beginning at 8:15 a.m. PT and Top Alcohol qualifying at 3:30 p.m. PT. Sportsman qualifying continues Friday, February 6th at 8:15 a.m. PT, with pro sessions taking the track at 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. PT; the Nitro Harleys qualifying at 2 p.m. PT, followed by Top Alcohol at 2:15 p.m. PT. Sportsman action continues on Saturday, February 7th with eliminations beginning at 8:15 a.m. PT, followed by Top Alcohol qualifying at 10:45 a.m. PT and the first round of eliminations at 2:15 p.m. PT; the final two rounds of pro qualifying hit the track at 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. PT, with Nitro Harley qualifying at 2 and 5:15 p.m. PT. Eliminations begin on Sunday, February 8th at 11 a.m. PT.
Fans with Sunday admission tickets can take part in the Seal Master Champions Track Walk on Sunday morning at 9:40 a.m. PT, featuring 2014 NHRA champs Matt Hagan, Tony Schumacher, Erica Enders-Stevens and Andrew Hines.
Tickets for the Circle K NHRA Winternationals are still available through www.nhratix.com. Full-event general admission passes are available for $130, while the Top Eliminator Club Package is available for $340; Saturday and Sunday two-day passes are also available, ranging in price from $86 to $117). Daily tickets are also available – adult admission on Sunday ranges in price from $48 to $65.
